When are they going to tear down the Tropicana Hotel Resort in Las Vegas?

They said they were going to do some major remodeling but when?
The plan was only to tear down the original hotel blocks (which are very small) and build new towers.

There was also plans announced to tear down Imperial Palace and O’Sheas and to extensively remodel the Flamingo. Also the Sahara was going to add new towers. However, if you haven’t noticed there are over 20,000 very expensive rooms in construction that are scheduled to open in the next year and a half. The current rooms are only being filled by offering them at fire sale prices. Even then people are still gambling much less and spending very little.

Renovation projects of old casinos are limited to very small projects at this time. I think they are sorry they blew up the Frontier and the Stardust. Now those projects are empty fields with billion dollar mortgages (at best). At worst they are half finished buildings where they have suspended all construction.

With the economy the way it is it may never happen. Several of current and future construction has come to a standstill. Don’t hold your breath on this one.

Due to the severe economy downturn, the Tropicana is not doing any changes. They had a major problem in Jersey and lost their license. Besides the total economy in Vegas is to terrible that the Echlon (Boyd Corp) has stopped construction for over a year. Right now is not the time to spend money in a hotel change.
