How far is Grand Canyon if I drive from Las Vegas Strip (Tropicana Hotel Resort)?

Is it s tiring drive? is it better to take a bus tour or helicopter/plane?
We rented a car for the day and drove there. It was about 4 or 5 hrs each way. The drive is quite tiring but it was nice to say that Ive been there. I wouldnt say that I would do it again though. I would never recommend a bus tour because they take forever and a day. I have never done a helicopter tour but I would imagine it would be nice but very pricey

I have made this trip on 2 different occasions. Both times I drove.
Starting out on the Las Vegas Blvd South and your destination being the Grand Canyon South Rim, Williams, Arizona these are your figures.
Total Miles =288 Miles
Total Time =5 hours
Keep in mind this is a very beautiful, scenic drive unless you are in a hurry then take the copter out of Las Vegas
If you want a nice calming once in a life time experience then drive, trust me you wont regret it.Just make sure you drive in the day time so you wont miss the beauty of it all.
If you have never been to the Grand Canyon, make sure you have a camera or a camcorder or you will be sorry. You are in for a real treat.
Enjoy your trip and don’t forget to have fun.
Oh and I almost forgot, bring plenty of water with you on your way, and at the Canyon. You are going to need it.

Figure at least 4 to 5 hours. You’ll be going through a desert so it won’t be interesting for too long. If you do drive have good music and/or good company. If your time is limited and you can afford it, fly.

The West Rim is about 2.5 hours. South Rim is the most popular and most known. Its about 5-6 hours one way.
Great stops along the way include Seligman, birthplace of the Route 66 revival.
Best to drive yourself. Can stop when and where you want and see the best parts of the canyon.
Leave Vegas early to beat traffic and see the awesome sites. Spend as much time as possible at the canyon. Rooms are available there and nearby. Since you have seen the route up, othing new going back, so drive back late!
