Which hotel in Las Vegas is better: Mandalay Bay or Treasure Island ?
June 24th, 2010
My fiancee and I are going there for a 5 day vacation…we need some relaxing time together !
Any other hotel suggestions?
Mandalay Bay is a better quality property overall, but it’s on the far south end of the Strip. Treasure Island has a great adult pool area called Bare, one of the most popular clubs in the city called Jet and some very good restaurants. It’s also on the middle of the Strip and close to Wynn, Encore, Fashion Show Mall and other attractions.
Check every property. All of the hotels are basically giving away their mid-week rooms now, and offering great deals for weekend stays, too. You should be able to get a package that includes enough goodies (such as comp slot play, a free or discounted dinner, show tickets, etc.) that your room will almost be free.
If you have time before you have to book your stay, sign up for each property’s email list and you should have all the offers sent to your in-box.

Mandalay has better amenities like the beach that is hotel guests only. Treasure Island will have more child traffic (like Excaliber) You will spend more money for Mandalay, but there is lighter traffic than at Spring Mountain and the strip,TI, Wynn, Fashion Show, Pallazzo are on that corner.
I personally like the Mirage, a Volcano View room gives you a great view of the strip and a good show that you wont have to leave your room for. Also the Bellagio, Wynn and Encore is always a winner, with similar prices to Mandalay.

Mandalay Bay would be the best for relaxation. Their pool area is the best. TI only has a small pool area and fills up quickly. You really can’t go wrong with Mandalay Bay.
First time visitors should really read this tips guide. Full of good information.

Mandalay Bay!!!!!!! TI stinks.
We went there 6/15 one yr…then 6/23 the next yr – there are more college kids later in the summer – more smoke – less peace. In other words our first trip MB was so quiet 7 relaxing, the 2nd trip – not so much.
TI hooks up to the mall, there’s a lot of foot traffic there. It’s older so the ventilation isn’t as good.
Not sure how much you like to spend but we ate at Fleur de Lis at MB (AWESOME!) only we decided to go from the chef’s menu that night, it was so wonderfully prepared….but $380 for my hubby & I!!!! So be sure to look into that BEFORE making ressies anywhere. Other than that we had a great time.
THe pool, the Shark Reef, the rooms, the dining- ALL great!

Mandalay Bay is the better property but TI has the better location. Consider the Wynn – apparently there are some really good deals at the moment.

Both hotels are find but Mandalay Bay is better IMO. The location is not the best but it has a great pool scene if this is an issue for you. I would also recommend to check http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com for good room promotion offers.

Mandalay Bay is nice but you cannot beat Treasure Island for the location. Location matters a lot on the Strip. Treasure Island is smack dab in the middle of everything anyone wants to see and do. Mandalay Bay is the last hotel on the Southernmost end of the Strip. While the hotel is nice the inconvenience of the location gets old pretty quick. The best thing about Mandalay Bay is the pool area but that is about it, in my opinion. The rooms, while large, have bathrooms that are so big they take up most of the space leaving a tiny living area.
The newer property called "the Hotel" at Mandalay Bay has much nicer rooms but again, it is a long walk just to get to the Strip. There is a free tram that runs from Mandalay bay to the Luxor to the Excalibur to try to mitigate all the walking but sometimes it is not working.
The thing is, if your intention is to pretty much stay at your hotel, Mandalay Bay is fine. If you want to really enjoy all that Las Vegas has to offer Treasure Island is a better choice. Perhaps a suite at Treasure Island instead of a regular room would be the best compromise.
