Las Vegas – holiday spending money?
October 13th, 2009
Hi anyone any idea on the costs of Las Vegas. Just thinking of stopping over for 2 days and wondered whether I’d end up spending a fortune? Not going gambling just general taxis, food, drink etc? Would a couple hundred dollars do it?
Thanks
What I normally do is make a list of what I’m doing while I’m there, that will help you make a budget. EX:
Arrive Sunday morning,
cab from airport $20
breakfast $10
lunch $15
dinner $25
comedy show $25
hotel $80
drinks $30
tips $10 etc……
It really depends on your taste, whether or not a couple hundred dollars is enough. It definitely could be enough. Just make sure you figure what you’re doing while you’re out there. You don’t want to be paying those high ATM fees!
Have fun!

The majority of your budget will be accomodations. It varies alot, but you should be able to find a decent hotel on the strip in the $80-$100 range with decent amenities. The cost of food all depends on your tastes. Accomodations in Las Vegas are generally excellent value as they expect to make additional money from most guests in the form of gambling. Most hotels will have $10-20 all you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets which are good value. The hotel "Paris" is a good example of a centrally located accomodation providing good amenities in a decent price range. Generally the farther you travel from the strip the cheaper you will find things cost. Including accomodations at a hotel I would suggest $200 per day would be a good average budget allowing you to see a few tourist sites without having to constantly be worrying about the cost of everything. A non-gambling hard-core bargain hunter could survive on $100 or less per day.

Comeing for a couple days on a couple hundred dollars is enough if you do it right , I suggest comeing mid week rooms are cheeper and dont ride in taxies they are expensive. you can walk or buss anywhere on the strip . You might try a hotel off strip like the palace station and they have free shuttle to the strip.
