Going to visit Imperial Palace in Las Vegas?
October 1st, 2009
I am going to visit the Imperial Palace in a few weeks. I know it’s a very basic casion/hotel. Any tips on how to get good deals/comp’s in that casino, or in the surrounding areas ?
Also anyone know of good deals in Downtown Vegas ?
Good deals abound in Vegas right now. They were just talking about on the news this morning. Profits were down 10% last month so the hotels are offering great deals on room. You should browse the internet to find the best deals, they said.
Imperial Palace may have a players card. I know the Flamingo next door does. Just get the casino players cards and rack up points for comps. When I got my card from Caesar’s Palace years ago they gave me $50 to start gambling with. But that was years ago. I don’t know about now.
All casinos comp high rollers. And if you’re asking about deals and comps, I’m pretty sure you aren’t a high roller, so just take advantage of the cheap meal deals like $7.99 prime rib and $11.99 steak and lobster meals.
Downtown has the best rates right now. Be sure to get a players card at the Golden Gate, then go have a 99 cent shrimp cocktail. They are world famous and there is no lettuce at the bottom of the cup. Very yummy.
Have fun.

Deals are everywhere Strip and Downtown, just check directly with the casino/hotel web site.
IP is a nice place. They will give you coupons upon check-in and join the Players Club for more. Those points are covered at about $15 spent for 1 point, used for comps. However, if you are playing tables and playing consistently with a significant amount of bet, ask the pit boss for a comp.

Just wanted to let you know I stayed at the Imperial Palace a few years ago and got a room for $16.00 a night in January. Now that’s a deal! The hotel is huge and I was always getting lost. No big deal on the services. Ask at the front desk about the comps, because I know they have them.

I’ve stayed at the IP. I liked it ok for the price; my wife did not, mostly because it smelled bad (like most guys, I have a pretty bad sniffer, so it didn’t bother me).
Anyway, to get comps, you’ll need to put up some dough at the tables (about $25/hand or roll of the dice); if you’re playing slots, it’s less because they expect that you’ll lose more. Because the IP is owned by Harrah’s, you can use their player’s club card at all of their casinos to get the most out of your experience if you are casino-hopping. Harrah’s owns lots of the places on the Strip in addition to the IP, including: Caesars, Ballys, Flamingo, and Paris.
They also own the Horseshoe, so you can use your card downtown, too. Lots of good, cheap gambling downtown and good meal deals, too. Also, if you’re headed downtown, check out Fremont East for fun – good clubs, restaurants, etc.
Good luck!
Mike

Footnote: There is an outside bar with a very loud band in front of the casino. Don’t take a room pn the lower front side unless you don’t plan on going to sleep until after the last set has played.

IP is a good hotel, the location is great. Be sure to check out the shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate downtown, as well as the Paradise Buffet at the Fremont Hotel (cheaper than the one at Flamingo, with the same items).
