Why is Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas only open on Sundays?

October 11th, 2009

My boyfriend and I were discussing this question. I think it’s because it’s a lot of hard work and clean up and they probably have to drain the pool every Sunday, which can get expensive. What do you think? Or does anyone know?

With Rehab there are some logistical concerns because the venue also has to function as a basic hotel pool the other 6 days a week but really it would not be all that hard to have Rehab seven days a week if they thought it would be profitable.

However, staging Rehab as a once-a-week event in a pre-existing hotel pool simply gets a much better return on investment than staging it every day would, or building a dedicated venue of that size from scratch would.

From a marketing perspective, there is no way you could get that many hot girls, rich guys, and celebrities to show up EVERY single day of the summer.

By limiting how often it is held, they guarantee each one is a huge party that maintains its reputation and high profit margins.

Who cares. It’s a place for the pathetic and diseased to congregate.

The concept is that Rehab is the party you go to in order to recover from the parties you went to on Friday and Saturday. Plus, it encourages guests to stay an extra day, maybe have lunch and dinner on property, gamble some more and go to the Body English nightclub that night.

The pool cleaning is done in the middle of the night on a regular basis, regardless of Rehab. And on Mondays, there is a private nightclub industry party called Relax, for all of the club people to kick back after working hard all weekend.

I think if you are marketing something it has to be special. Can they afford a band every day? The cameraman have to be there. It is better to just have a normal pool six days a week, and have a party that you can attract people too on one day a week.

Interesting point about Hard Rock .Although the casino is relatively small it has a lot of Blackjack, and other table games. The casino only brings in roughly $1m per week in gaming revenue. That is a fraction of revenue from some simple slot clubs or older shabbier casinos like Imperial Palace. They are probably the single major casino on the strip that earns the largest percentage of their revenue from non-gaming sources. Ratio is roughly $2 to $1 (non-gaming/gaming).

*** Rehab is closed for the 2009 season.

After a weekend in Sin City, the Hard Rock Hotel’s pool is the place to go to recover. The pool is transformed every Sunday into Rehab, a hip, sexy beach club party.

Focusing on music, relaxation and rejuvenation, Rehab takes over the pool beginning at noon until the sun goes down.

Guests are treated to a variety of massages from Rock Spa, an open flame grill hosted by Pink Taco and an extensive array of exotic drink concoctions.

Daybeds surround the three-acre poolside haven, offering a place to unwind and listen to a mix of jungle beats, rock and hip-hop.

Because it is called Sundays at the Pool and specialized entertainment. They do NOT drain the pool. And there are other clubs there to enjoy other nights, jsut not the pool
