I am getting married at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas on Aug 14th and there Reception is expensive. I am just looking for a place to cut the cake and to have Champagne or a wine toast. I’m looking for places to throw a little reception. Thank you

BEst way to cut costs is to contact the Elks Club, VFW, American Legion halls.
They will rent out to you and you can buy drinks direct from them or bring you own.
I would use google to see some local ones with phone numbers.
But, you and the group will have to travel from the MC to the place, it can be a pain in the neck.

On sites such as Hotwire and Priceline, do the prices usually go down even more as the date approaches or are they about as low as they go right now?

We are going to Las Vegas for a conference in October and I am wondering which hotel pool is the best for kids ages 4 and 7. We are looking at Mandalay Bay, MGM, and Monte Carlo. Insight on these would be great…and if you thing any others are better. Also I know Las Vegas isn’t really geared to kids. What else should we do while we are there?
I would hope their pools are open at this time of year! It is over 100 degrees at 6pm where I live…and I know it’s a lot hotter in Vegas.

Mandalay Bay wins…no question…in the pool catagory. It’s hard to beat the WAVE pool, the Sand Beach, the Lazy River, etc etc etc.

MGM has big pools and a lazy river, but otherwise it’s pool area is a concrete slab.

Monte Carlo…yeah, it’s more serious business traveler spot…not so good for kids.

Beyond the Pool issue…MGM or Mandalay Bay would be my choices…probably best to choose which one your convention is based at. The MGM gets bonus points for the Rainforest Cafe (though a bit pricey I think) it has a great "kid/animal" theme to it. Just outside its front door…you can go to the M&M World and/or the Coca-Cola World…my boys have been to both and definitely have a great time…watch out for the free soda samples vs the kids sugar levels LOL.

Mandalay Bay has the Shark Reef…a really cool tour through a large aquarium with a wide variety of sea life…the lobby, usually during the daytime, has people with live Maccau’s (really big tame birds) that they let fly around and do tricks (free)…They also have the broadway play: The Lion King…seen it with my kids…a great kid show…and it starts at 7pm!?!?! (Tip: SNEAK in your own bottled beverages and snacks…the ones in the showroom are Expensive!) …and again…it has the most incredible pool…your kids will love being there all day every day…probably. And you can still catch a cab or the city bus (across the street) to go to the M&M/CocaCola worlds or wear comfortable shoes and walk (about 1 mile, 1.5 at most).

Outside of your hotel’s of choice…try to take your kids to Circus Circus….free circus performances during the day (sorta cool, no elephants, lions etc) and they have a HUGE area with kiddie rides and games, etc to play..like a fairground…but with aircondiitoning and no mosquitos!!!

Seigfreid and Roy’s Secret Garden @ the Mirage is very cool. I never knew lions got so HUGE…holy cow!!! And they have WHITE LIONS… a newer addition to the animal family. It starts with going ‘underground’ and watching the dolphins (tho you can hang ‘top side’ too!)…then you get to see panthers, tigers, lions, etc…live …and really close up. (The Lion Habitat at MGM is okay…their lions are pretty mellow and lay around a lot…usually far from view…it’s small and geared more to selling stuffed lions…but, hey, it’s free.)

If your time allows…be sure to squeeze in the "pet" show…Gregory Popovich’s Comedy Pet Theater…I’ve seen it…it’s amazing…1) he uses dogs and cats that have been rescued from shelters/pound 2) he’s pretty funny… 3) he has TRAINED CATS…you’ll be able to honestly say…cats CAN be trained!!! I was in a room full of Veterinarians when I say the show, and they were blown away!!!

There are more kid things to do…but honestly, these are pretty comprehensive…for on the strip.

Off the strip…they would like The Springs Preserve…close to the strip, sorta, and educational and fun!!! The schools take field trips there every year and the kids LOVE IT. (My boys go multiple times a year.)

The other off the strip option is: Lied Discovery Children’s Museum. It’s another "hot spot" for local school tours and where the kids "have a blast"…while learning stuff too! The environment invites your children to have fun and involve themselves in all the activities at the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum. Hands on activities and exhibits introduce your children to concepts from Biology and Physics to the ever changing world of the social interaction in our neighborhoods.
Kids get an introduction to environmentally friendly practices in the community in the green village. They get to test out simple machines and water flow exhibits. The Lied Discovery Children’s Museum was set up for children to enjoy a wide array of educational and intriguing exhibits that will fill an entire afternoon. Again…lots of fun for the kids…(and young at heart too!)

Since Las Vegas already has Ceasar’s Palace (Rome), Venetian (Venice), Paris (France), Monte Carlo (Monaco), New York New York etc…

I think they should build a Tokyo inspired casino with a mall that looks like downtown Tokyo with all of those neon lights and stuff.

Another great theme would be a St. Petersburg (Russia) casino. That would just be crazy!!!

What about you guys? What would be a great theme for a new casino in Las Vegas?

Ever since the first time I went to Vegas, I have always thought they should have an "Atlantis" themed hotel, like the Lost City of Atlantis. It would be a dark blue and gray with green moss/seaweed all over it to show that it has been underwater.

It’s funny you should ask that question since the same one has gone through my mind. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like they are building themed hotels anymore. All of the new construction going up looks like condos and timeshares and they are taking up a lot of space.

But I think it is fun to think about differently themed hotels and picture what they would look like on the outside and the inside, and what attractions they would incorporate to go along with the theme.

Great Question!

I asked a question earlier about topless at the Montes Carlo hotel in Las Vegas.
My fiance’ found a website that offers tan-thru sheer crop top t-shirts that match her bikini bottoms.

http://www.brigite.com/Sheer%20T%20Top.htm

Has anyone had any issues using this approach, and is it acceptable by the other guests?
We are leaving for Las Vegas in a couple weeks, and stiil have time to order these, for our stay at the Monte Carlo.
Thanks!
Didnt think this would turn ugly. It was just a question. We have 2 teenagers of our own ,and I think if the tables were turned, we would not see anything wrong with it, but that is why we are on here getting some feedback.

If the pool is not topless, then it is not acceptable. If it’s a topless pool then that would be fine.

Non topless pools will have children present and your wife exposing her chest would be completely inappropriate.

Although, some of those tops aren’t very sheer at all. Basically, if you want to show your nipples, then go to a topless pool with all adults.

he worked in Vegas for a year in 2005. now he’s been working here in Alaska for 2 years and he doesn’t know what happened to his 401k back in vegas. is there a way to get it? is it still there with his vegas employer (Monte Carlo Hotel). please tell us what to do.

thank you so much.

Yes, the money is probably not handled by the employer but by a trust the employer set up for the benefit of employess. It probably is highly protected.

I believe the problem is that the 401K administrators don’t have your new address, so you are not getting the statements. Call them to give them your new information.

By the way, there are ways to transfer these funds to IRA’s or other retirement plans (for example, a 401K with current employer), without any tax penalties. Ask your current retirement plan administrator or bank officer. They do these tranfers every day.

Travel party includes~ Me & Hubby, Mother in law, 2 children
Ages~ 28, 32, 62, 8, 6
Dates~ April 2-6
Prices~ Bill’s $247 Flamingo $351 Monte Carlo $362

My Needs~ Good pool, cheap eats, less walking as possible, somewhere that will somewhat impress my mother in law

We have a car and besides having cheap food, a clean room and a good pool we don’t really care what else the hotel has to offer. because we won’t use anything else.

I know Monte Carlo has construction beside it, but can you see it from the pool?

I’ve narrowed it down to these hotels so please give me your opinions on which on is best suited for our needs and why.
Thanks!!!
I called Bill’s reservation line and they confirmed that their guest have access to the Flamingo pool.

i am staying at Flamingos in march… after a HELL of alot of research ffound them to be the best for what we’repaying…. i know its now Wynns but not a dump either, and its centre strip with the monorail stp outside. We got a good deal of vegastogo.com pay for 3 nights get the 4th free, you should look into that.
