Has anyone stayed at the Excalibur in Las Vegas?

I’m going to LV for a wedding soon and most people are staying at the Excalibur, so I wanted to follow suit for convenience.

If anyone has stayed there before, please let me know what your experience was, thanks!

Excalibur is my favorite! It is one of the budget hotels on the strip, without the budget feel. Their standard rooms aren’t much to speak of, but we stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms last time and I thought they were beautiful. The colors and furniture just made you so comfy. The bathroom counters and mirrors were great, too. The newly renovated rooms also include a 42" flat screen tv and an in-room safe.

They have a few restaurants, their buffet isn’t the best in Vegas, but the breakfast is decent. They also have a Dick’s Last Resort, a steakhouse, an italian place, and the 24 hour Sherwood Forest Cafe, the best place to get coffee and pancakes anytime of day. Their food court upstairs includes McDonalds, Quiznos, Pizza Hut, Krispy Creme, and an ice cream place.

Their casino is huge and is not as much like a maze as other casinos. It’s all laid out on one floor without any bars or clubs in the middle that you have to navigate around. All of the bars are located on the outside of the casino. Needless to say, it’s much easier to find your way around.

Downstairs they have a need Midway with carnival games such as throwing darts at balloons, and knocking down things for prizes. Each game is quite affordable and you could end up with a ton of souvenirs if you allowed yourself to continue playing.

We always stay in Excalibur because of their great rates and great location. They are located on the most popular intersection with MGM Grand, NY NY, and Tropicana. Excalibur is connected to Luxor and Mandalay Bay by either walkway/mall, or free tram. It’s also only a $10-$12 cab ride from the airport.

They always have great rates and promotions going on. We have almost never paid more than $51/night, and we got a free upgrade to the New room on a promotion for the same rate. Here are there specials right now http://smartervegas.com/hotels/excalibur/promotionalcodes.aspx

1). Third Night FREE! From: $41/night
You could possibly stay 3 nights for only $82 + tax

2). $1 Thursdays- From: $1/night
Select Thursday nights are only $1 when you book a 3-night stay

3). 30 day advance offer- From: $31/night
Non-refundable, must book 30 days in advance

4). Stay & Play Special Offer- From: $41/night

Have Fun! There’s no point spending $100+ a night for a hotel room you will barely see, when you can pay $50 or less a night to stay in a castle! LOL!

Where should I stay in Las Vegas- Excalibur or Tropicana?

My girlfriend and I are going to Vegas for her birthday, and we’re looking for a cheap hotel on the strip. On Hotels.com Excalibur and Tropicana seemed to be in our price range. Which one do you prefer?

I would go with the Excalibur. They have recently updated a lot of their rooms. And they look pretty good. The Tropicana is in the process of doing some major renovations to its hotel/casino. Besides the Excalibur is with the MGM Grand company. They have a decent slot club and staying there and gambling there and any of their other hotels just might get you some more offers. One word of advice too. Don’t eat the buffet at the Excalibur. It may be cheap and tempting but the food is not very good. There are other buffets that are better and not too far away. Just take the tram that is the front of the casino and take it to Mandalay Bay. Excellent hotel and a very good choice of restaurants. Including a very good buffet. Hope this helps a little.

For a cheap experiance in Las Vegas, would Excalibur or Circus Circus be a better deal?

My family is planning a trip to Vegas at the beginning of August. There will be 4 adults, one teen, and one older teen. We are looking for cheap places to stay on the Strip that have theming, and we’ve narrowed it down to Circus Circus and Excalibur.

Circus circus has all the circus shows for free, plus the Adventuredome that’s attached, but Excalibur is closer to the other hotels on the Strip. (we plan on visiting and walking around all the other casinos)

Your opinions?

If you plan to visit other casinos, I’d go with Excalibur. It’s connected to Mandalay Bay and Luxor by monorail. There are also walkways to New York, MGM, and Tropicana. Circus Circus is very out of the way (at the far northern end of the Strip).

Both Excalibur and Circus Circus have below average rooms and lousy food. But, this is Las Vegas… you get what you pay for.

Although both CIrcus Circus and Excalibur have solid attractions for younger children, Excalibur is better suited for teens because of the prime location. Luxor’s IMAX motion simulators, the giant Gameworks arcade, and New York’s excellent roller coaster are nearby. Adventuredome is actually far more low-key than they let on. You won’t be missing much.

View looking north from the 18th floor of tower 2 in the Excalibur Hotel, Las Vegas. This is Tropicana Avenue. The junction with I-15 can be seen on the left hand side. Incidentally the window in this room could be slid ALL THE WAY OPEN, which is somewhat unusual for a family hotel.
