Any opinions on The Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas?

Going to Vegas for a couple of days but on a tight budget somewhat. This hotel seemed like a good deal for the price but not wanting to stay in a flea bag either. Any opinions would be great = ]

If you are going on a extremely tight budget, then Excalibur is ok. You really need to research your trip, and if possible play with the dates, to find the best deal.
Don’t let money be your only decision maker. If you plan to go to a few shows, for instance, try to book a hotel room/show package. Treasure Island has a special that includes 2 mystere tickets with a room purchase. My wife and I did this, with a view room upgrade, for not much more than the cost of a room at Excalibur. Even at Excalibur you can get deals. They currently have a "All You Can Eat Buffet for $25 special".
The quality of the hotel is only one concern you have. The strip is bigger than you may think, and you want either $7 all day unlimited Deuce Bus tickets or $24 for 3 day unlimited Monorail tickets.
If you chose to go with the Deuce, you can look at the possibility of staying at a Fremont Street hotel and riding to and from the strip. I personally think if you book between MGM and Palazzo at a 4 star hotel, you will be better satisfied. If Excalibur is good enough for you then you can also stay at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall, Imperial Palace, and several others as well. If you want a better location and quality package, that sometimes is very affordable depending on the date, I suggest MGM, NYNY, Paris, Treasure Island, Mirage, or Monte Carlo.

This is the Casino Floor of the Excalibur in Las Vegas. It’s me Mikey and D.W. ballin’ as usual in Las Vegas. This is a general run down of the tables, player tables and sports book. This is at dusk. The Excalibur takes off at night and it goes crazy when the band starts playing. I’ll post up the same type of Vid. of the MGM Grand, Bally’s, Paris, and New York N.Y. etc.

What are the pros and cons of staying in the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas?

a lot of kids because the arcade is freaking awesome. its good place to gamble because the limit isn’t very high and its cheap. its connected to luxor and mandalay bay and both are very fun and you can walk down to the strip and get to around like ceasers palace and venetian in under 20 minutes(:

omg and the food at excalibur is awesome, the buffet and the sir somethings steak house is awesome(:

Which is a better hotel New York-New York or the Excalibur in Las Vegas.?

The price difference is only $90 between the two with NY-NY being higher. Pool is important to us as well as the hotel rooms. Where should we stay?

I have stayed at both. I like the Excalibur WWAAAAYYYYY better!!! The staff was much nicer, more helpful. The rooms were in better shape, cleaner, just nicer. I will never stay at the NY NY again. Was not a good stay in that hotel.

Is it true that the Excalibur is Las Vegas is going to be imploded?

Excalibur is currently owned by MGM Mirage and they have no plans to implode it anytime soon. They are working on building the multi-billion dollar City Center, scheduled for completion in 2009, and they are not undertaking any other major changes property-wise until that massive project is complete. (And when I say ‘massive’, I mean it will have its own fire department and power plant… here’s a link if you’re interested: http://www.citycenter.com/lifestyle/vision.aspx )

Also, MGM Mirage likes to keep many star levels of properties. For instance, they know the Treasure Island could be made as nice as the Mirage… (and it’s not like they couldn’t afford it!), but then they would have to raise the room prices, and according to the CEO, they like to have properties that cater to different income levels. So both Excalibur and Circus Circus (also owned by them) are safe for now.

The next hotel scheduled to come down is the New Frontier… currently sceduled for implosion in July, although those sorts of things are known to change.

Sahara was just bought and the new owners plan to renovate rather than demolish, and the owners of the Tropicana plan to renovate as well.

Harrah’s recently purchased both the Imperial Palace and the Barbary Coast, giving them about a solid mile of property mid-strip. (I bet those people rock at Monopoly!) They have talked about tearing down the Imperial Palace, but my sources have assured me it will remain open at least through March of 2008 (contractual obligations with vendors). I wouldn’t be surprised to see them tear down a property or two in the next few years to build their own brand new mega-resort.

The Excalibur is possibly the largest toilet in America!
I am kidding of course….but it really is a dump.
If you need a room and will be out and about I suppose it will do.

They do, like any other casino here. It’s very simple – you won’t leave until you have something in your glass, so they won’t let you stay without a free drink. You will hear loud "Drinks!" or "Cocktails!" words each and every minute over your head. So don’t worry about that. (Some casinos also offer free cigars.) Just don’t forget to tip – $1 is perfect in this case.
